Riley, The Bug Maker!

Riley got this cool bug maker from his Uncle Aaron and Allison for Christmas:

Bugs & gooey stuff? That's right up Riley's alley! He was SO excited to use it. First he used the gel bug eggs to make a bug by putting them into the bug maker. It melts the eggs and then he was able to squeeze the liquid eggs into a bug mold:

After he was done filling the bug mold, we let it cool. He got this cool jelly bug when he opened the mold:

You can make plain bugs, or you can make bugs that are hollow. You can fill the hollow ones with bug goo. Which one do you think Riley made? Yep, the ones you can fill with goo....

He filled the syringe with goo, injected the bug with it, and got a goo filled bug. He was so excited. Why was he so excited? So he could do this:

He smashed the bug and goo went everywhere!

He's such a boy! =) I see many more goo filled counter tops in my future......

Thanks Aaron & Allison for the cool present!

Dinosaur Land

Riley came home from school yesterday with a dinosaur that he had made in art class. He was SO proud of his T-Rex!! Lily loved it too, so he made one for her. Then, later on after dinner, I walked into the kitchen and saw this:

He had made Dinosaur Land. (That's what Riley& Lily were calling it.) They had grass, and cliff walls that they walked through. They also had flying dinosaurs!!

And dinosaur eggs!

And a dinosaur water park that the dinosaurs played at!

This is the dinosaur queen:

Riley had SO much fun making his Dinosaur Land!

I am quite sure that he will be adding to these dinosaurs after school today.

Riley Has Discovered......

Post-It Notes!

While I was cooking dinner last night, Riley took it upon himself to write and color on post-it notes........

a lot of post-its.....

I found these all over doors and walls in the house last night.

Some of them are pictures of Christmas things.
But some of them say To Dad From Riley.
I asked Riley why they said this.
He told me it was to remind Jeff that there was a present under the tree to him from Riley. =)
There is also a picture of the fireplace.
In case Jeff forgets that the tree is next to the fireplace....
Ahh, Riley. You are such a crack-up. =)

Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast

Riley's class had their Thanksgiving Feast on Friday.
They have the whole week off next week for Thanksgiving break!
Each year the Kindergartners make costumes to be Pilgrims and Indians.
Riley was an Indian.
Everyone brought something to share for the feast.

The kids all had a lot of fun!

They had a cute turkey song that they sang too.
Kindergartners are so cute!

Riley & The Tooth Fairy

On Thursday, Riley came home sporting a very loose tooth.
It was his first loose tooth ever.
He was super excited about it!
I think he told Jeff & I about it approximately 5,236 times.
Give or take a few.
There was already a new tooth coming up behind it.
Jeff & I both tried to pull it for him since it was so loose.
He did NOT want us to pull it.
He said he wanted it to "Come out naturally".
Riley cracks me up. =)

Then after school on Friday,
he came running towards me.
"I PULLED my own tooth!!!!"
So much for it coming out naturally. ;-)
But he was SO proud of himself.

Then he reminded us 5,326 times that he had lost his tooth at school.
He could not wait for the Tooth Fairy to come.
When it was bedtime, we put his tiny tooth (in a baggie) under his pillow.
At 5:45 am, Riley came into our bedroom, put his face in Jeff's face, and said,
"The Tooth Fairy came and left me a dollar. My tooth is gone and I have a special Tooth Fairy dollar!"
We told Riley congratulations.......and to go back to sleep.
Thankfully he did. =)

Congrats Riley on loosing your first tooth!!

Flag Football

Riley had his first game in Flag Football yesterday!
When we asked him if he wanted to play soccer like Zach,
he said that he wanted to play football instead.
So, we signed him up for flag football.
He was really excited......
especially after we went to the Chief's game.
He kept saying, "This is what I'm gonna do!!"
When Jeff took him to his first practice,
Riley was very disappointed.
He ran up to Jeff crying, and said,
"This isn't the Chiefs! I thought I was playing for the Chiefs!"
Jeff explained to him that he had to work his way up to playing like that. ;-)
We talked him into staying with flag football.
Yesterday, he decided he loved it!
He got right out there & tried his hardest!!!

Here he is patiently taking his turn on the sideline.

Then he got back out again and played hard!
He was really good at getting the flags off of players on the other team.......

he just was a little too slow at doing it. =)
He would get their flag right after they passed the ball to someone else.
But, for his first game, and for only having one practice before,
Jeff & I think he did GREAT!!
His team won and he had fun playing.
He said he can't wait to do it again next weekend!

Riley's Preschool Graduation

Riley graduated from Preschool last night!
Here he is with his teacher Miss Eva:

We LOVE Miss Eva!!
She was Zach's teacher, then Riley's.
Next year, she will be Lily's.

Before the kids got their hats and diplomas, they sang and danced for all of the parents and grandparents.
It was really cute and the kids all did great!
Riley was especially funny. =)
He is such a ham!

Here he is with his hat and diploma.

The whole class:

Now Riley is all ready for Kindergarten next year. (sniff, sniff!)
I don't know what I will do without him to crack me up all day long.
At least I have all summer. =)

Riley's Birthday

Riley's Birthday celebrations started on Monday when he got to bring cupcakes and treat bags to preschool.

It continued into Tuesday, his actual Birthday, with presents from Jeff & I.
We let the kids pick whatever they want for dinner on their Birthday.
Riley chose Red Robin's.
It was yummy and he got a big Birthday sundae. =)

When we got home he blew out the candles on the blueberry cake he picked out.
He must have had a good day,
he was sound asleep within five minutes with his new toys spread out around him in bed.

Then today, we had his big party with lots of family!
He wanted a Mario cake.
I wish I could take credit for this......but I can't.
My sister Mary made this.
Riley LOVED it!!

Riley got lots of great presents!
He got cute clothes, lots of outdoor toys, and many other things.
Thanks everyone!!
Riley is really lucky to have so many people who love him!!
He also got some cute jammies.
Including his new dragon jammies.

He has been running around as a dragon all night. ;-)

After presents, Riley blew out the candles on his Mario cake!

Riley had a great time!
Thanks everyone for helping Riley celebrate being FIVE years old!!

The Funny Things Riley Says

Riley cracks me up ALL of the time.
He says the funniest stuff sometimes.
So, here are some funny things from Mr. Riley:

"When I grow up I'm gonna be a ninja...........or a vampire. I don't know which one yet."

(After Jeff & I got a new mattress.)
Riley: "Are we going to the mattress store again?"
Me: "No."
Riley: "Oh.....I really need a new mattress."
Me: "Why?"
Riley: "My back is just killing me!"

(Riley likes to make 'chili sandwiches' out of crackers and chili.)
"Mom! These chili sandwiches are delicious! I can give you the recipe. It's just crackers with a surprise ball of chili inside!"

Riley: "Mom, why did the dinosaurs die out?"
Me: "Some people think a meteor hit the earth and blocked out the sun, so the dinosaurs ran out of food."
Riley: "Oh! So they ran out of food, so they all died?"
Me: "Yes."
Riley: "Or a UFO could have come and given the dinosaurs more food, then they would have lived.'
Me: "Well.......yes, that could have happened, (not really) but it didn't."
Riley: "Yeah, that was a pretty crazy idea!"

"Mom, when I get home, I'm gonna clean my room, make my bed, and then jump off a big building!"

(Riley likes the idea of jumping off buildings and landing on something soft. One day he was telling the dental assistant he was going to jump off of one of the castles that was pictured in a poster on the wall.)
Riley: "I want to jump off that really tall castle."
Dental Assistant: Won't you get hurt if you do that?"
Riley: "I'm gonna have a big pillow at the bottom!"
DA: "Oh! Silly me!"

I was getting ready in my bathroom and Riley was in there with me. He started combing his hair
and then looked in the mirror and said,
"Oh Riley, you sure are a beauty!"

Hope you enjoyed a few conversations between us and Riley. =)

A Few Of Riley's Favorite Things

Scooby Doo....
(not just the stuffed dog, Riley loves everything Scooby Doo; movies, books, stickers, he even has action figures of the whole gang!)

torturing Lily....

toast....
Seriously. He would eat toast with peanut butter and cinnamon and sugar for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I let him.
monsters.....
telling "funny" jokes....and then laughing hysterically.....

being scary.

Just a few things that make Riley who he is. =)
