On Monday, we had a big family carnival! My sister Kathleen did the majority of the work/planning/organizing, but we all pitched in to help with food, games, prizes, etc. It was SO much fun!! We set it up at my parent's house since they have the most room outside.
We had it at 6:00, and no one had to worry about dinner, because there were hot dogs, chips, watermelon, and dips. Yum!
We also had a popcorn machine!
One of the booths I was responsible for was the photo booth. We had all kinds of funny things for people to use to make silly pictures!
There were lots of other fun things too!

All of these games had super fun prizes for the kids too!
Besides games, had balloon animals done by my sister Mary!
And face painting by my sister Amy!
And no carnival would be complete without cotton candy.....
and snow cones!
So much fun packed into one carnival!! My kids wanted to do it again yesterday, but they'll have to wait until next year.
Thank you SO much Kathleen for all of your hard work. All of the kids (and adults) had a ton of fun!!
Our art project for last week were rock caterpillars. Each of the kids selected 4 to 5 rocks, then painted them different colors.
When they were all dry, we hot glued them together in the order that they wanted their caterpillar.
Then I hot glued eyes onto them.
Aren't they cute? They kids really enjoyed this project!
Last week, we did our fist summer science experiment; exploding bags! We needed these things to make them:
1/2 cup vinegar, 2 tablespoons baking soda, a napkin or paper towel, and a ziplock bag.
Fold your napkin or paper towel into a square. (the thinner the square the better) Pour the baking soda into the middle of the square.
Fold the square up to keep the baking soda inside.
Pour the vinegar into the bag.
We went outside because it was supposed to make this big pop and spill the vinegar/soda out.
Then we closed the bag almost all of the way, leaving just enough space to out the towel in.
Place the towel/napkin in & quickly zip up the rest of the bag.
If you shake it just a bit, it should start filling up with gas:
Our bag filled all the way up with gas! This is where the exploding is suppose to happen......
but it didn't. :0( I think we used too big of a bag. It did pop open eventually, but it was kind of a pfft.. We used a gallon sized bag, and I think if we had used a quart size, this would have actually worked like it was supposed to. I of course did not have quart size bags. It was still cool to see the bag puff up, and we definitely want to try this again with a smaller bag.
