I made this recipe last week and 3 out of the 5 of us loved it. (I should just say three out of four because Lily doesn't like anything...) ;0)
It was super easy to make and very yummy! All you need is cooked chicken in smalls strips (I used 3 breasts, but next time I will probably use 5), a can of cream of chicken soup, 1 cup salsa, corn tortillas torn into bite size pieces, 1/2 cup milk, and cheddar cheese.
Preheat the oven to 350* and cook the chicken. (I cook it in a pan with a little olive oil and salt & pepper.) Then mix the cream of chicken soup, milk, and salsa.
Don't let the look of it discourage you. It looks gross, but once it all put together, it is good. I promise!
Next, tear up enough tortillas to cover the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Add half of the chicken. (This is where I wish I had cooked more chicken)
Pour half of the soup mix on top and then cover with cheese.
Repeat the tortilla, chicken, soup, and cheese layers and cover with foil.
Bake for 30-40 minutes (until cheese is melted), then let sit for about 5 minutes before serving.
We had this with green beans and salad, so it wasn't too carby of a meal. ;0)

DIY Photo Hanger
I have a lot of family and I like to hang the pictures that they give me, but I have too many to put them al in frames, so I got this photo hanger (I'm sure that's the technical term) but as you can see, it doesn't exactly hold the pictures in place.....
I decided to make a new one, so I got a cheap frame, paint, fabric, ribbon, and mini clothes pins:
Lily wanted to (insisted on) helping me. So we painted the frame yellow.
While we let that dry, we measured out the gray and white chevron material for the background, but putting the back of the frame on the material, then cutting around it leaving about a half inch extra to glue down.
We put on a second coat of paint and let it sit over night.
The next day, we measured out the ribbon so we could glue it onto the inside of the frame:
Then we put the back onto the frame:
Lily wanted to put the pictures on with the clothes pins, so I laid the pictures where I wanted them and she clipped them on:
All done! So much cuter than the old one!
I got the frame, paint, and fabric from Walmart, and the ribbon and clothes pins from Michael's.

Low Carb Chocolate Raspberry Shakes
Lily got this book from the school library:
She picked this recipe to make from it:
It called for vanilla ice cream & cocoa powder, but Lily wanted me to be able to eat it too, so we used Carb Smart chocolate ice cream instead. :0) We also needed milk and raspberries (which a low carb and a natural sugar, which is better than processed sugar).
Lily added 1 cup raspberries:
2/3 cup milk:
and 1 cup (we estimated & probably went over a cup.) of ice cream:
Then we turned the blender on!
Lily garnished the shakes with the extra raspberries:
These were yummy!! They weren't super sweet, and they were a good low carb dessert. :0)
Willow got pieces of a raspberry for her dessert too:
;-)

Blue & Gold Banquet 2015
We had the annual Blue & Gold Banquet for the Cub Scouts a few weekends ago. Riley & his Den became Webelos 1 & our nephew, Johnny's den became Bears!
One of the fun activities they got to do were these activity sheets:
Cub Master/Den Leader/Daddy and Riley:
Lily and her friends/fellow cub scout sisters. :0)
Flag Salute:
The second activity was going around the gym in groups and using the clues on papers to guess what animal it is talking about.
The 2nd grade den getting their new badges:
Riley's Den receiving their Webelos 1 badges:
After badges/awards, we had a yummy dinner and then the scouts did skits. One of the ones the Bears did was singing and doing actions to "Hello Mother, Hello Father". It was pretty cute!
The Webelos did a fun skit about hitting a bullseye & one of them actually hit a bull's eye. (pretended too.)
Then they did a funny skit where they used "scout soap" to get their leader's clothes clean. Everything came out fresh until they washed the socks, and they made Riley (who was "washing" them) fall over from the smell. ;0)
Then it was time for the farewell flag salute:
It was another successful banquet!

Science Olympiad Regionals (2015)
It seems like forever since I have blogged! I have had a lot of things going on and to add to that my photo editor has been acting funky and Jeff hasn't had time to fix it, so I decided to just post the pictures as is. I will try to be better at posting in he future. :0)
So, a few weekends ago, the Science Olympiad team had it's Regionals meet. Depending on how they did here, depended on whether they got to go to State in April or not. (Spoiler alert, they do!!) :0)
They sent two teams to regionals. The Presenting Team, which is the team that will go to State and hopefully Nationals. They also sent the Invitational Team which is the kids who are not going to State or nationals, but they are just as important because they help the school's overall score which helps them get to State. Zach was very lucky as one of only 3 6th graders who was chosen to be on the presenting team!! We are so proud of him!! He won third place in his event; Crave the Wave.
All Saints won 1st Place overall!!!!
Here is the Presenting Team:
Here is the entire team:
Taby was on the Invitational Team and she won 1st Place in her event; Anatomy!!
State is on April 4th, so Zach has some more studying to do! We know he can do it!
