Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This is what the kids woke up to this morning:

Green footprints and gold coins!

Every year on St. Patrick's day, leprechauns leave gold coins (chocolate) and green footprints all over our house.

The kids have so much fun finding the coins and looking to see where the leprechauns left footprints.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

St. Patrick's Day Art Projects

We have been busy making art projects with rainbows, shamrocks, and leprechauns!
The first one we did was make rainbows with a pot of gold at the end.

Lily and Riley made these rainbows with clouds attached.

Lily and Riley also had fun making these hand print rainbows!

Zach and Riley made cut-paper and painted shamrocks this morning.

And finally, the boys made these really cute leprechauns.

The kids are anxiously awaiting the leprechauns that always visit our house on St. Patrick's day.
They always bring us gold coins (chocolate) and leave messy green footprints all over our house!
The kids have fun looking for the coins and gathering up the footprints.

The Funny Things Riley Says

Riley cracks me up ALL of the time.
He says the funniest stuff sometimes.
So, here are some funny things from Mr. Riley:

"When I grow up I'm gonna be a ninja...........or a vampire. I don't know which one yet."

(After Jeff & I got a new mattress.)
Riley: "Are we going to the mattress store again?"
Me: "No."
Riley: "Oh.....I really need a new mattress."
Me: "Why?"
Riley: "My back is just killing me!"

(Riley likes to make 'chili sandwiches' out of crackers and chili.)
"Mom! These chili sandwiches are delicious! I can give you the recipe. It's just crackers with a surprise ball of chili inside!"

Riley: "Mom, why did the dinosaurs die out?"
Me: "Some people think a meteor hit the earth and blocked out the sun, so the dinosaurs ran out of food."
Riley: "Oh! So they ran out of food, so they all died?"
Me: "Yes."
Riley: "Or a UFO could have come and given the dinosaurs more food, then they would have lived.'
Me: "Well.......yes, that could have happened, (not really) but it didn't."
Riley: "Yeah, that was a pretty crazy idea!"

"Mom, when I get home, I'm gonna clean my room, make my bed, and then jump off a big building!"

(Riley likes the idea of jumping off buildings and landing on something soft. One day he was telling the dental assistant he was going to jump off of one of the castles that was pictured in a poster on the wall.)
Riley: "I want to jump off that really tall castle."
Dental Assistant: Won't you get hurt if you do that?"
Riley: "I'm gonna have a big pillow at the bottom!"
DA: "Oh! Silly me!"

I was getting ready in my bathroom and Riley was in there with me. He started combing his hair
and then looked in the mirror and said,
"Oh Riley, you sure are a beauty!"

Hope you enjoyed a few conversations between us and Riley. =)

Bubble Fun!

Last week, before all of the rain, we had a lot of fun with our new bubble toys.

These are SO much easier for Lily and Riley to use.

They get tons of bubbles just by pressing a button on their bubble wand!

More warm (dry) weather please!!!

The Boys' New Favorite Treat

Frozen Bananas!

The boys (and Lily) had this over at their Aunt Amy's house and they have been asking for it ever since.
So, I got the things they said I needed to make this delicious treat.
Bananas, honey, and chocolate chips.

First you have to stick a skewer into a banana.
Then wrap it up in foil.
And put it in the freezer.

We froze ours for about an hour.
Then the fun part began.
They drizzled honey on them and rolled them in chocolate chips.

Yum!

Thanks for the idea Amy!

A Few Things From This Week:

Here are just a few random things from this week.
First, we are amazed that we still have fish from Fun Night.
Which was a month ago.
We don't have a very good record with keeping these fish alive. ;-)

Second, Tuesday was Dr. Seuss's Birthday.
We are BIG Dr. Seuss fans in this house.
So, we made "Cat in the Hat" shaped pizzas.
We cut out rectangles in the dough, and used pepperoni and cheese as the stripes.
Then we rolled up the bottom to look like the brim of the hat.
The kids thought these were funny......and tasty.

I also made an ABC chart for Riley.
He will start kindergarten in the Fall. (sniff, sniff.)
He knows his uppercase letters, but is having trouble matching up the lower case to some of the upper case.
So, this game will help him!
I used my sister Mary's cool Cricut machine to cut out circles for the letters.
Blue for lower & yellow for upper.
****Ok, I actually made her do it, but I watched. ;-)****
Then I stuck letter stickers on the circles.
I glued the upper case letters on a piece of poster board.

Now Riley can match the lower case letters to the upper case letters.

He really likes his new game!

Lastly, I received this in the mail:

I had seen this on another blog.
If you go to
You can order a FREE 8x10 canvas picture of your choosing.
All you have to do is pay shipping and handling. (about $15.00)
I uploaded this picture of my kids at the beach last Spring.
I really like it!

Well, that's all for this week.
Enjoy this nice weather!!!
