Yesterday we had an art project party.
We invited over Lily's cousin Johnny for art projects, snacks, and playtime!
The first project we did was a "Shapasaurus".
We started out with shapes:
Ovals, triangles, diamonds, circles, rectangles, and squares.
Then they each made their own Shapasaurus!

Chiefs!
On Friday afternoon we headed to KC for the first home game of the Chief's season.
It was a pre-season game, but those are the ones we like to take the boys to,
that way when they want to leave early, Jeff doesn't really care. =)
We took the boys out of school 15 minutes early.
Zach told me he:
"didn't think that a football game was not a good enough reason to leave school early."
I told him it was 15 minutes....I am sure he wasn't going to be missing anything. =)
Riley on the other hand, was telling his cousins (who ride to school with him) that he might not see them at lunch (at 11:00) because he was leaving early for the Chief's game.
Jeff told him it was not going to be that early.
Our plans had to change a little bit when we got to KC.
We had planned on tailgating with the boys.
It was going to be their first time to do it!!
(Last year we just went staright inside the stadium.)
But, after sitting in 1 1/2 hours worth of crazy-slow traffic,
we weren't going to be able to do that.
So, we let them eat their hot dogs and chips in Jeff car.
This is a big step for Jeff, who doesn't really like food being eaten in his car. =)
It took us forever to find our brick.

If you were wondering about their headsets,
they were watching a movie on the way up.
I love modern technology.
Seriously.
I don't know what we would do without it.
Wait...yes I do!
We would take far less road trips without it. ha ha!
We were a little late to the game too.
Really, the traffic was just CRAZY!!
I think the boys learned some new words from their dad.
But when we finally got there, the boys enjoyed it.
I think Zach likes going, but Riley LOVES going!
He is so fun to watch.
He gets so into the game, cheering, screaming, jumping up and down.
I just love to watch him react to the game/crowd.
Which is OK.
Jeff wanted to look around the "new" stadium.
This was in the Hall of Fame section.
This was in the Hall of Fame section.
They have a Founder's Plaza where they have bricks for season ticket holders.
It took us forever to find our brick.
We looked and looked, then we finally called my sister, Kathleen.
She was staying with Lily at our house.
We made her find the paper that said where the brick was located......
because someone forgot it.....
Anyway, we found it right after that and the boys were excited.
And when I say boys, I mean all three of the "boys".

First Day of Preschool
Lily started preschool today.
There were only a few tears.....from me that is.
I really don't know why I started crying.
I really am excited to have two mornings without children.
I didn't cry when either of the boys went to preschool or kindergarten.
I was fine, until I asked Jeff if he was ready to take his baby girl to school.
(We still call her baby girl...even though she's three.....)
And Jeff said "Are you?"
And all of the sudden it hit me....
My BABY was going to school.
And I started crying.
Jeff said, "I thought you would have made it to the school first."
But at the school I was fine.
So was Lily.
She could have cared less when Jeff & I left.
And that's the way it should be. =)
She was SUPER excited!!
That backpack is almost as big as she is!!!

I checked her bag before we left this morning....just in case.
I'm glad I did:
She wasn't too happy when she found out I was serious about not bringing shoes to school.
But she got over it when she found out there would be lots of toys for her to play with at school and that she could wear her princess shoes when she got home.
Silly girl. =)
When I picked Lily up from school she said she had a great day and was excited to go back again on Thursday!

Getting Ready For Preschool
The only thing Lily needs for preschool is a backpack and two boxes of Kleenex.
She picked out her backpack awhile ago, but I got her Kleenex yesterday.
Since she is starting school on Tuesday, I put her Kleenex in her backpack and set it out in her room.
When I was walking past her room yesterday, I saw this:
Did you notice what was in the side pockets?

After I took these pictures, I opened her backpack.......just to check.

First Day of School
Today is the boys' first day of school.
Last night I read them The Kissing Hand.
This is the BEST night before school book ever!
I have read it to the boys every year before they went to school.
And I will read it to Lily next Monday night before she goes to preschool on Tuesday.
When I woke Riley up today, he popped out of bed.
He was super excited. =)
He was excited to get his new uniform on.
He was excited to put his new shoes on.
He was excited about his new lunch box.
He was excited about pretty much everything.

He was excited about his first day in second grade though. =)
My two handsome boys.
I was lucky I got a picture.
He practically ran to his class.
He was excited when he found out his friend Cody is going to be in his class again this year.
My little Riley is not shy.
He went right up to his teacher and asked her where his things went.
Then he gave her about three hugs.
Then he gave her about three hugs.
I know we left him in competent hands.
He has a great teacher!!

Goodbye Summer!
Our summer is quickly dwindling down.
We have two days left.
The boys start school on Wednesday.
I have mixed emotions about school starting.
Riley will be starting Kindergarten and will be gone all day long... =(
But then I think:
The boys will be gone all day long!! =)
Next week Lily will go to preschool two mornings a week.
How can she be so old???? =(
But then I think:
I have two whole mornings to myself!!!! =)
I am sure Wednesday morning will be a little tough.
Sending Riley (my baby boy) off to Kindergarten.
And it will be sad watching Zach act all old,
like he does not need mom to walk him to his class.....
big Second grader that he is.....
Second grade??? When did that happen??
And I KNOW sending Lily to preschool will be hard...for me that is.
She's so excited she can hardly stand it!
But for now.....as I listen to the fighting, and the screaming, and the, "Mom, there is nothing to do!" I know I will somehow manage to make it through the first few weeks a school. ;-)
Here is an overview of some of the fun things we did over the summer.
I honestly do not know what else we could have squeezed in.
Hope you all had a great summer too!

Good Daddy
Every good daddy lets their little girl do this to them:
and also let's his wife take pictures of him and put them on her blog. =)
and also let's his wife take pictures of him and put them on her blog. =)
Lily thinks it is super fun to "do Daddy's hair".
She also likes to put lip gloss on him.
And for some reason cover his head with her blankets and put a shark on top of his head......
I don't think I will be visiting her salon anytime soon. =)
She did this to him last week.
The other night I saw her come down the stairs with all of her hair things
and I thought she was going to ask him to let her do it again.
Instead, she asked him to do her hair.
Aww!
That didn't last too long though, she quickly wanted to do his again.....
so much more fun to do Daddy's hair!
On another note......
Lily is VERY fond of her purple lip gloss.
We see her like this a lot lately:
but she thinks she looks beautiful, and that's all that matters. ;-)

Ice Cream Sandwiches and a Sleepover
On Monday night we checked off number 14 on our summer list:
Have A Sleepover
It also happens to be the last thing we needed to check off of our list!!
The boys wanted to invite their cousins Tabitha & Alyssa over.
To make the sleepover extra fun, we decided to make ice cream sandwiches.
First we needed cookies.
We had chocolate, chocolate chip, and peanut butter.
The next thing we needed was ice cream!
Then we needed stuff to roll our ice cream cookies in:
They spread ice cream on a cookie, smooshed another cookie down on top, then rolled it in their choice of candy.
This was really messy, but a lot of fun!!
And really yummy!
Here are a few that the kids made:
After they ran around, running off some of that sugar,
We settled down for a movie.
That was just fine with me! ;-)
Thanks Taby & Alyssa for coming over to have a sleepover!
Now all of the things the kids wanted to do are crossed off of our list!

The boys start school next Wednesday and Lily starts on the 24th.
Everyone is super excited!!!
