The Cub Scout annual Blue & Gold Banquet was this last Sunday. They always have a fun theme & this year it was Mindcraft. If you don't know what that is, don't worry, I don't either, and both of my boys play it. As far as I know, it is a game where you build cities. The boys' Uncle Sam plays it & when they found that out, it made him their new BFF. ;0)
When we got there, they had a giant maze made out of boxes for the boys to go through. They also had to find certain things in the maze before they could get out. (Sorry these pictures are terrible...they're from my phone.)
First though, they had to make masks/hats out of paper bags to be a character from the game:
The boys were SO excited to go through the maze!
Even Lily got to go!
After the maze, we had dinner & then it was time for the awards, leveling up for some, and the Arrow of Light ceremony for those becoming Boy Scouts. (Zach will get to do that next year.)
Riley moved up to a Bear Cub, and got a new neckerchief & badge:
And Zachary got a badge for his hard work in Weebelos 1 & will be in Weebelos 2 next year!
It is a fun way to get recognition for their hard work as scouts!

Snowmen & Snow Forts!
On Saturday, the snow was much more packable than on Friday, so Lily & I headed out to the backyard to finish our snowgirl!
The boys were hard at work on their snow forts!
They could get pretty far into them!
Here is our snowman in the front yard:
Lily was sad that he was falling apart, but as of this afternoon, she is assured of more snow, so we can build them again!
Then we headed to the front yard, where the boys were to make a snowman.

The BIG Snow of 2013!
We have had a ton of snow over the past few days! It started Tuesday night and by Wednesday afternoon there were several inches in the backyard! The kids were ecstatic!
Jeff came out & threw a snowball at the kids, but he wasn't really dressed for playing in the snow, so he ducked back in when the kids tried to get him.
After that, he got dressed & we had a big snowball fight in the backyard!
Then, this morning there was more snow! We had 11 inches on the deck!
We had promised the kids we would go sledding, so we went to the park by our house to sled down the big hill!
This evening, we played in the front yard while Jeff cleared off the driveway. I love this picture! Zach is very unaware of what Riley is doing while he is posing for a picture:
Ha Ha!
Lily tried to catch snowflakes on her tongue:
While the boys were digging tunnels:
And of course, no snow day would be complete without snow angels!

So he threw snow at Lily with the shovel. ;0)

The kids get another snow day tomorrow, so we are planning on doing a snowman!
