The Cub Scout annual Blue & Gold Banquet was this last Sunday. They always have a fun theme & this year it was Mindcraft. If you don't know what that is, don't worry, I don't either, and both of my boys play it. As far as I know, it is a game where you build cities. The boys' Uncle Sam plays it & when they found that out, it made him their new BFF. ;0)
When we got there, they had a giant maze made out of boxes for the boys to go through. They also had to find certain things in the maze before they could get out. (Sorry these pictures are terrible...they're from my phone.)
First though, they had to make masks/hats out of paper bags to be a character from the game:
The boys were SO excited to go through the maze!
Even Lily got to go!
After the maze, we had dinner & then it was time for the awards, leveling up for some, and the Arrow of Light ceremony for those becoming Boy Scouts. (Zach will get to do that next year.)
Riley moved up to a Bear Cub, and got a new neckerchief & badge:
And Zachary got a badge for his hard work in Weebelos 1 & will be in Weebelos 2 next year!
It is a fun way to get recognition for their hard work as scouts!

Blue & Gold Banquet
Sunday night was the Boy Scout Annual Blue & Gold Banquet. There is yummy food (which Jeff cooked all of this year; smoked brisket, ham, and hot dogs. Yum!), fun games, and awards.
The theme this year was, "Minute to Win it!" So the games were based on games on the Minute to Win it Show. Zach got to play this fun game where he had to use a tape measure to get balls into a cup:
He got all his balls in first!
After some more fun games, we had dinner and then they handed out awards.
The Tiger Cubs were up first. They all got elective beads for completing projects together and they also got their Tiger Cub Badges!
Then his troop all got to switch over to the Weebelos neckerchief! They all worked hard this year to reach this goal!
Each troop had little skits that they did. Zach's troop did two funny skits. One was where they had a boy under a towel who was the "ugliest man on earth". They each took turns looking under and them falling over dead from fright. This was Zach dying:
At the end after all of the scouts were "dead", their leader looked under the towel and the scout under the towel died if fright because their leader was so ugly. They had a lot of fun with that one.

Each scout said that got it from JC Penney. Then Zach walked out wearing just a towel (with shorts & a t-shirt on underneath) and the scout asking the questions said, "Who are you?" and Zach looks at the other scouts and says, "I'm JC Penny!"

Scout Camp
Zach and Jeff headed to Scout Camp last Thursday morning.Zach was SO excited this year!!
He got to spend two nights and three days there.
They pitched their own tents, and they even cooked one of their own meals!
(The rest were provided by the camp in their dining hall.)
He was also excited that his dad was going with him too. =)
There were so many activities for them to do.
He got to shoot a BB gun on his first day:

Out of 10 shots, he got 9 on the paper, and 7 of those were on the target!!
Good job Zach!!
On Thursday night, they were all stuck in the dining hall because of bad storms until almost midnight.(Then they had to trudge out to their tents for bed...I'm glad I'M not a boy scout!) ;0)
Zach was so tired from all of the activities that day that he just fell asleep on an upside down bench:
Bike riding:

Paddle boating:
A flag ceremony:
And archery:

I was able to keep in touch with Jeff so I knew how they were doing in those storms. =)
The next two days were full of more activities!

Zach's troop was in Camp Crow with these other boys:
Zach had so much fun that when he got home (all hot and tired) one of the first things he said to me was, "I want to go back!!" Jeff had fun too, he liked being able to spend time with Zach and do things they both enjoy together. And even though they were both thankful for air conditioning and soft beds, they were glad they went. =)

Cow Town
On Saturday, Jeff took Zach to Cow Town for a Tiger Scout function. It was FREEZING!! Poor Zach had spent an hour playing soccer in the cold weather, then came home long enough to change clothes to head over to Cow Town to spend two more hours outside. He had fun, even though both he and Jeff were pretty cold by the time they got home.
Zach thought this coffin was funny....
They did get to go inside to tour some of the buildings. One of them was the building where they print papers. They even got to print their own piece of paper!
