Fairy Tea Party

Last Saturday, Lily & I were supposed to go to a Fairy Tea Party at Botanica, but I woke up sick on Saturday morning. :0(
Luckily, Jeff had come home a day early from a business trip, so he was able to take Lily. She was pretty excited for it!! They had tea (pink lemonade) in real tea cups, little sandwiches, and cookies. They also got to plant flowers to take home, made flower crowns, and fairy wands too! She even got to have her picture taken with Tinkerbelle!  Then they watched ballerinas from Ballet Wichita dance and got to dance with them too! She had SO much fun and loved spending time with her daddy. :0)

We hope that they do it again next year so I can go too! :0)

Riley's Birthday

Riley's birthday got started a little early, the Saturday before his actual birthday. He wanted to go to Fireshark Gaming with a few friends (plus Lily and Riley).

Afterwards, we headed over to Orange Leaf for yogurt! (It was actually renamed something else, but it was just as good.) :0)

The night before Ri's birthday, we happened to go to Carlos O'Kelly's, and Riley got Birthday Sopapillas!

On his birthday, he got to open presents after school:

This is Riley opening his present from Lily. Apparently she was very excited about it. ;0)

It was a home-made sling shot. :0)

I had attempted to make a lemon cheesecake for him per his request, but I seriously messed it up. :0(  Luckily, we had some brownies leftover from what he took to school, so we put candles in it and sang happy birthday to him. Riley is such a good sport! He didn't mind one bit. :0)

I did (re) make the cheesecake the next day though. (This time using the correct ingredients and following the directions.)
Thankfully it turned out great this time!

So we stuck candles in this one and sang happy birthday to him again!

Happy Birthday Riley!!

Happy 11th Birthday Riley!!

Riley Scott Logan came into the world on April 13, 2005 at 8:31 pm, weighing 7 pounds even, and was 18 3/4 inches long. He had dark blue eyes, and a little bit of dark brown hair. He was adorable. :0)

He has grown into such a funny, smart, loving boy.

Riley, your dad and I have loved watching you grow and change. You add laughter to our house on a daily basis, and your love for others astounds me. We are so proud of the person you have become, and can't wait to see what the future holds for you! We love you!

Pistachio Ice Cream (No Churn!)

Riley LOVES pistachios. He could eat a whole bag of them by himself! He gets so excited when I buy them. :0)

While I was looking through Pinterest, I saw a recipe for pistachio ice cream, and thought Riley (and Lily & Jeff who also like pistachios) would love it. It was for an ice cream machine though. I have an ice cream machine, but I'm lazy. ;0) So, I decided to use the base for a no churn ice cream that I've used before and add pistachios, vanilla, and chocolate chips. The base is just 2 cups heavy whipping cream, and 1 can sweetened condensed milk.

First, Riley used our mini food processor to crush up the pistachios. I bought already shelled ones for this, because again, I'm lazy. We used 3/4 of the bag.

After the pistachios were crushed into tiny pieces, we poured the two cups of cream into the mixer and beat it until it was thick.

Then we mixed in a little bit of vanilla. (I didn't measure, but probably a teaspoon and a half.)

Riley added the nuts and we mixed those in.

Next was the sweetened condensed milk. Then we whipped it again for a bit.

We put it into a freezer safe bowl, and added about a 1/2 a bag of mini chocolate chips.

We froze ours for about 6 hours and it could have used a bit more freezing, but the kids couldn't wait any longer. ;0)

Everyone (Except Zach & I, who don't like pistachios) loved it!

Sheep Puff Ball Banner

Lily LOVES sheep. I mean bordering on obsession loves them. For real.
So, when I saw this sheep banner made out of puff balls, I knew she would love it. Crafts plus sheep, and throw in that we made some pink? This is basically Lily's idea of heaven. ;0)

First we got tan and pink yarn, mini puff balls for the head, and hot glue.

Place a piece of yarn between your fingers to hold it in place:

Then loosely wrap it around your hand several times. The more you wrap, the poofier it will be.

The next step is to tie the middle like this:

Then take it off your hand:

Cut the other side:

Trim it up so the ends are all the same size.

Then glue on the tiny puff ball for the head.

Once the glue was dry, we placed string were we wanted it then hot glued it on.

We put it up around her bed:

It was really pretty easy and it turned out super cute!
