Turkeys with Emma

On Tuesday of this week, we went over to Amy's house to play with Emma & do an art project!

Emma & the kids were SO excited to see each other!! :0)

After playing inside for a bit, we headed outside to collect leaves for our project.

Amy collected leaves for Emma since she just wanted to run around. ;0)

After everyone got enough leaves, we went back inside and started making turkeys! We had brown paper bodies that they glued the leaves on for feathers, and then they made faces on the head & neck part, and glued those on top.

I took this picture of Lily working on hers, but check out Emma in the back. She took her leaves off & put her hands on the glue, and the paper stuck to her hand. She was waving the paper around trying to get it to come off. It was SO funny!! Lol!!

Our finished turkeys!!

After our turkeys were all done, we played for a little bit more & then had a yummy lunch made by Amy.

Thanks Amy for letting us come over!! We miss seeing Emma everyday!! :0)

Fall Fun!

Today, we went to my parents' house to play in the leaves! We have one little tree, and it does not produce that many leaves for the kids to play in. My parents, however, have tons of trees!! Plenty of leaves for everyone!! :0)

Zach of course hopped onto the riding lawnmower as soon as he could....

Lily & Riley started raking leaves & playing in them though.

Riley is rising from the dead here......

Meanwhile.....

Yep, still on that thing. Only now, Granddad had let him put the blade down & he is mulching all of the leaves. That's the big time people. Not just any grandkid gets to ride it with the blade down.

Back to the leaves:

Zach finally got tired of the mower, and came to play with Lily & Riley. Granddad helped them out by covering them with leaves. :0)

It's snowing!! ;0)

Thanks Grammy & Granddad for letting us throw leaves all over your yard!! :0)

Science Olympiad Invitational

Last Saturday in the very, very, early morning (3:45) we got to All Saints to help load up the bus for the trip to Shawnee Mission, KS for the Science Olympiad Invitational.
Zach was all ready to get on the bus with his book & pillow.

Jeff & I opted to drive. :0)

When we got there, we unloaded everything, finally found the room reserved for us, and I got breakfast set out for all of those hungry 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th graders!

Everyone was told when & where their event was, and that they needed to study before their event. Most of the kids had more than one event, but the 5th graders could only do one this year, so Zach only had to do his, which is Shock Value. (circuits, electricity, etc.)

Here he is (in a very bad picture) taking the test:

After all of the kids were done & had eaten lunch, we loaded the bus back up & waited in the auditorium for the awards to start.

Jeff is the coach for Zach's team, but he was also a judge that day for the robotics event.

The awards were supposed to start at 2:30, but they didn't actually start until 4:00!! That is a LOOONG time for all of those kids to sit and do nothing.

Our school won in 12 different awards in the individual events!! We were SO excited!!
Then our entire school won third place overall in the entire invitational!!!

Zach did not win an award, but we knew that the chances of him (or any of the 5th graders) to win one was pretty slim since this was their first event. They do the invitationals for the experience & now Zach has a better idea of what he is supposed to do. He had a lot of fun, and learned a lot though!!

After the awards, we went to dinner at a place called Power Play. It has a buffet & then a huge game room. The kids were so excited!!

After Zach was out of tokens, we headed back home in our car. I was glad we didn't have to ride the bus home since we were all super tired & just wanted to get home!

We picked Lily & Riley up from my parents house (Thank you mom & dad for keeping them over night!!!) and then headed home to bed!

Now we need to get ready for the next invitational in December!

Halloween!

I'm finally blogging about Halloween! It's been crazy busy around here, and then I couldn't get my pictures loaded on the computer. :0/ But, I am finally getting around to do it...almost a week later...

We started out our week by going to the Scout Halloween Pack Meeting. The kids got to start the meeting out by making lollipop ghosts!

There was also a costume contest! Here are all of the scouts who wore costumes....plus Lily. ;0)

After the flag ceremony, and the scout updates, it was time for some fun! They turned each other into mummies:

Lily talked one of the mom's into making her into a mummy!

She was completely covered!

Then it was time to bob for apples!
Zach's cousin Johnny was helping him out by holding his hood for him. :0)

They got really wet, but had a lot of fun!!

Then on Wednesday, we carved our pumpkins!

Lily wanted to carve Ariel in her pumpkin, but the pattern she picked was super complicated for her, so I ended up carving most of hers.

Zach carved the Creeper from Mine Craft!

Riley chose Pikachu! He needed some help from Jeff, but did a lot of it by himself!

And Jeff did a KC, of course. :0)

On Halloween, the kids got their costumes on & got ready to Trick-or-Treat!

Lily was Ariel from The Little Mermaid:

Zach was a wizard:

Riley was this creepy thing:

They got WAY too much candy, but they had fun going around the neighborhood with Jeff, and then warmed up with some hot apple cider while watching Halloween movies!
It was another great Halloween!
