Blue & Gold Banquet

Sunday night was the Boy Scout Annual Blue & Gold Banquet. There is yummy food (which Jeff cooked all of this year; smoked brisket, ham, and hot dogs. Yum!), fun games, and awards.
The theme this year was, "Minute to Win it!" So the games were based on games on the Minute to Win it Show. Zach got to play this fun game where he had to use a tape measure to get balls into a cup:

He got all his balls in first!
After some more fun games, we had dinner and then they handed out awards.
The Tiger Cubs were up first. They all got elective beads for completing projects together and they also got their Tiger Cub Badges!

Zach also got his Bear badge!

Then his troop all got to switch over to the Weebelos neckerchief! They all worked hard this year to reach this goal!

Each troop had little skits that they did. Zach's troop did two funny skits. One was where they had a boy under a towel who was the "ugliest man on earth". They each took turns looking under and them falling over dead from fright. This was Zach dying:

At the end after all of the scouts were "dead", their leader looked under the towel and the scout under the towel died if fright because their leader was so ugly. They had a lot of fun with that one.

Their second skit was where one scout complimented each scout (except Zach) on an item of clothing they were wearing and then asked where they got it. Each scout said that got it from JC Penney. Then Zach walked out wearing just a towel (with shorts & a t-shirt on underneath) and the scout asking the questions said, "Who are you?" and Zach looks at the other scouts and says, "I'm JC Penny!"

They all thought they were pretty funny!

Jeff & Riley's Tiger Cubs did a cute song; "I've Got That Tiger Cub Feeling".

They did a good job too!

It was a fun night for all of the scouts!

We're Going To The Zoo, Zoo, Zoo....

Since the weather has been crazy this winter, we have been trying to get outside whenever it is warm. I'm not sure if we are ever going to get a real winter this year, but in case we do, I want to take advantage of the warm temperatures while I can. Yesterday, we headed to the zoo with Ares & Johnny. (And Aunt Mary)
Our first stop was the petting zoo. Lily loves to feed the sheep......

as long as she is on one side of the fence and they are on the other.... ;0)

It took a little convincing, but Ares decided that feeding the sheep was fun too!

Johnny also loved feeding them.

Next we headed to the barn, where a picture on the horse or cow is a must for every zoo trip.

Lily likes "milking" the cow. I have a feeling she wouldn't like doing it for real though.

As we were heading for the penguins, a boy and girl peacock walked past us!

Peacocks are so pretty!

This is the closest I have ever seen the penguins get to the fence.

And yes, she probably should not be up there...... oh well.

We had worked up quite the appetite & thirst! So, while we watched the giraffes, we shared a polar ice drink and some yummy popcorn!

Such good sharers!

Next up; the lions!

When we were almost done at the zoo, I remembered that I had a zoo key in my purse. Lily danced to all of the songs on our way out.

What a silly girl!

At the end, Aunt Mary bought them all stuffed baby penguins. They were pretty excited!

Another fun day at the zoo!

Fun Night!

On Saturday night, we went to the boys' school Fun Night. It is their annual fundraiser. They have lots of fun games for the kids, food, balloons, casino games, baskets that are raffled off, and a silent auction. It is super crowded, but the kids always have a lot of fun.
The first game that Riley & Lily went to was the candy bar walk. The quality of this picture is terrible (I took them all with my phone), but I had to post it just because of Lily's pose:

I said, "Lily look over here!" and that's what she did. What a ham!
The kids saw lots of their cousins at Fun Night. Camden was there & he got his hair spray painted lots of colors!!

Zach & Taby got to go around to all of the games by themselves. They thought they were pretty hot stuff. ;0) I did see them throughout the night though. Here is Zach playing the car racing game:

The fishing game is always a favorite game! You win every time!

A new game this year was plinko! We all had to try it out. =)

The kids had a lot of fun, as usual. Zach even won a fish! We didn't win any of the raffle baskets, but Jeff did get 2 of the things that he was bidding on in the silent auction, so he was happy about that. By the time we got home (at 10:00) we were all exhausted! While Jeff & I are happy Fun Night is over, the kids can't wait until next year!

Valentine's Day Parties

Lily and I invited over some of her cousins for a Valentine's Party last Monday.

We got everything ready for a fun afternoon!

When everyone got to our house, we made Valentines!

Everyone's Valentine was different & beautiful!

The twins got to come to the Valentine's party too! They didn't make Valentines though. ;0)

They were dressed up for Valentine's Day though!

After the valentines were all made, we played a fun game with conversation hearts and chopsticks.

They had to pick up the hearts with their chopsticks and put them on the table. Whoever had the most hearts off of their plate in 1 minute won.

Lily had a little bit of an advantage. We eat at Hu Hot a lot. The kids don't actually eat the stir fry, they eat chicken strips and waffle fries, but they use the kid's chopsticks to eat their food, so Lily was used to using them.

But the other kids got the hang of it fairly quickly!

They all did a good job!

Then it was time to hand out Valentines to each other!

After that was snack time. We had yummy treats!!

It was a good Valentine's Day Party!

On Monday night, I made these cake pops for Zach's class party:

And that's the only picture I got on Valentine's Day. :0(

I forgot my camera, so I was going to just use my phone, but then Zach's class was so crazy that I forgot to take any pictures. They had just gotten back from a bowling field trip. Seriously. They were getting off of the bus when I pulled into the parking lot. So, they were pretty wired. I did pop into Riley's class to drop off juice before I went to Zach's class (I'm Zach's room parent), so I got to see him for a bit, but then I never got back to his class. :0( He had fun in his room though, so that's good. =)

Later on, Jeff & I gave the kids their own box of chocolates and they had their favorite dinner; chicken & rice. Jeff brought me a dozen roses and a programmable coffee make that I have been wanting. I know...super romantic on the coffee make, but seriously, I love that thing. I love having coffee already ready when I walk into the kitchen. :0) (Oh, and Jeff got his favorite Reese's peanut butter cups.)

I'd say it was a pretty good Valentine's day had by all!
