Halloween Fun!

Last night, we carved our pumpkins! Lily actually helped clean hers out this year!

I love their faces in these pictures. They don't look too happy about sticking their hands in that gooey mess. (Not that I blame them, of course!)

Zach was a serious pumpkin cleaner this year!

While we were carving our pumpkins, these three cuties came to our house to do a little early Trick or Treating!

When we got back inside, the kids got down to business, deciding what they were going to carve.

Lily is even a girly-girl in her pumpkin carving. She drew eyelashes on her pumpkin & made me carve them out too.

I carved Lily's pumpkin, but the boys did most of their own carving.

Here are their pumpkins!
Lily's girl jack-o-lantern:

Riley's vampire:
(Shocking...I know...)

And Zach's wizard hat, moon, and star:

I can't wait to light them up tonight! (We use glow sticks so they have colored lights in them, but I didn't have enough to light them up twice.)
Later on, we went to Halloween Street to see all of the houses decorated for Halloween!

Now all we have to do is get our costumes on & go Trick or Treating tonight!!
Speaking of candy, Emma was trying to eat all of our candy this morning! ;0)

Happy Halloween!!

Daisy Outing

Last Saturday, Lily & I went to a Daisy Scout event called Money Counts. They taught the girls about the values of different coins & bills, and how many coins you needed to make a dollar. Then they talked about how much things cost. It was held at Cero's Candy Shop.

After they talked about money, they showed them around the candy shop. They got to see how they make candy!

After the tour, each girl got one dollar to spend on chocolate. They could spend less than a dollar, and get change back, but they could not go over a dollar. They had to figure out which candies would be less than a dollar and if they could get more than one. Lily picked a light (they charge by the weight of the candy) peanut butter melt-away & was able to get two! Then they got to eat their candy.

All of the girls learned a lot & earned a leaf patch for their vests!

Halloween Art Projects

Now that all of the kids are in school all day everyday, it's harder to get very many art projects in, but we have managed to do a few.
The first one was a spider web with a hand print spider. We started with the kids making a web using black glitter glue.

While we waited for the webs to dry, I painted their hands orange and they pressed them onto paper to make a spider.

When everything was dry, we cut out the spiders, glued wiggly eyes onto them, and then glued them onto the webs:

Emma made one of these too, but I forgot to take a picture of it.
Speaking of Emma, this is an art project just she did. It's a candy corn made out of her footprint! I just painted her heel white, the middle of her foot yellow, and the top orange & pressed it onto paper.

The last project we did was a classic; footprint ghosts! These are pretty easy, just a white footprint on paper, added wiggly eyes, and used a black marker to make the mouths. These 3 are my kids':

This one is Emma's:

Hopefully we will get a few more projects in before Halloween!

Halloween Fire Party!

Saturday evening, Amy, Sam, & I had a Halloween Fire Party. (Amy did most of the work though.) We invited our family over & told the kids they could wear costumes!

The yard was all decorated for Halloween!

This is Lily's "scared" face.....

We had lots of fun things planned for the kids; pumpkin painting, a craft table with Halloween stickers, pumpkin bowling, Halloween bean bag toss, witch hat ring toss, and web shooting.

Sam & Emma:

When the kids got there, they started in on all of the fun things right away!

Soon it was time to eat!

This is these 3 cuties first Halloween!

As it got darker, we brought out the desserts! We had S'mores, Witches Fingers, Pumpkin Popcorn Balls, and a Caramel Apple Bar!

Brigid likes chocolate.......

When it was completely dark, we all gathered around the fire & Amy told some scary stories!

After Amy's stories, the kids got a chance to tell some. Some of them were pretty good!! (and funny!) ;0)
Lily really likes Madison. We are glad she got to come up from Texas to see us!

When I was taking this picture, I was just trying to get a picture of Amy, Sam, and Emma, but when I saw it on the computer, I noticed Ares:

Ha! Ha! That kids cracks me up! :0)
I hope this Halloween Fire Party is something we can continue to do each year. It was SO much fun!! Thanks Amy & Sam for hosting!!

(If you are wondering where Jeff & Zach were, they were at a scout campout.)
