We have a very busy school year ahead of us. We have the usual busyness of school with homework, meetings, programs, etc. But we have a few other things going on too.
Lily is back in ballet & is going to Wichita Children's Theatre to take her classes. She has gone twice now & is loving it!!
Riley is still in scouts, with Jeff as his leader. They are already doing fun things and learning a lot!
Zach is the one who has the most going on. He is still in scouts (his last year as a cub scout), and he also joined in on 3 other activities at school.
One of them is Science Olympiad. He was SO excited to do this! Jeff is coaching one of his teams; "Shock Value". He is also on another team that deals with powders and chemicals. They go to competitions and they have won several times the past several years. They are having a bake sale to help cover the costs of events this weekend so I made these cookies for it:
All Saints is where he goes to school & Cougars are their mascot.
Zach also auditioned for Honor Choir and he got in, and he is doing Battle of the Books. He has to read 5 chapter books and they go to meets and answer questions about the books. He is very excited about all of these things!
So, as you can see, I've got my work cut out for me driving everyone everywhere! :0)
It's finally here!! The first day of school!! ;0)
All of the kids were ready & somewhat willing to go this morning. Lily was the only one that was super excited. The boys were not as enthusiastic as she was. :0)
Here are the kids' first day pictures with some of their favorite things:
Outside school. They all have their, "Please stop taking pictures of us smiles".
Zach & his teacher, Sister Eloise. I almost didn't get this picture, he almost got away from me. I don't think I am even going to try next year. :0)
Lily was the next one to be dropped off. Her teacher is on maternity leave, so no picture with the teacher, but she was super excited to be there anyway!
Riley was the last one to be dropped off. This is him and his teacher Mrs. Matechik. Poor Riley was so nervous!! I know he will have a great day though!
Jeff & I got them all dropped off and then I went to pick up Miss Emma from my mom's. It's going to be fairly quiet around here today. And I am OK with that!
Last Thursday, the kids had their Spring Concert. They all sang songs from different countries. It was really fun to listen to the different types of songs.
The Kindergarten was first. Lily was SUPER excited!
Both of their songs had cute actions!
Soon it was Riley's class's turn.
He was so worried we wouldn't like his songs because he didn't really like them.
He had nothing to worry about, of course, because he and his class did a great job!
Finally it was the 4th grade's turn. Zach was so excited about all of the hard work he had put in to this concert.
During their first song, they played the recorder. They sounded great!
The second song had words in Vietnamese, but they did great on that too!
Another concert over.....soon it will be time for Summer break!
Catholic Schools Week was this past week. They had a lot of fun activities to help celebrate this special week! On Monday, they had Cougar (The All Saints mascot) paw cookies and then they sent off yellow balloons with All Saints address and our mission statement on it to see how far they went!
During the week, they had a religious store open where they could buy religious items, a spelling bee, religion bowl, a special story teller, an 8th grade VS the faculty volleyball game, hat day, & silly sock day. On Friday, the parents came to eat lunch with the kids. Jeff ate with Lily & Riley, and Emma & I ate with Zach!
In the afternoon, they had mini sessions. I loved doing mini sessions during Catholic Schools Week when I was in school. They were SO fun! The kids all get to pick 3 things they want to do and get to spend 20 minutes doing each thing. Zach got to do Chemistry Camp, Robotics, and Horse Care. Riley went to Chemistry Camp, Robotics, and Horse Care too! (They had lots of choices, but these two obviously have the same interests!) Lily chose Donut Dipping, Cake Pop Making, and Horse Care. They all had a lot of fun!
