The Joys Of Having A 2 Year Old

Last night I had left a tub of butter on the cabinet so I could make grilled cheese for the kids. I walked out of the room, heard Lily pulling a chair away from the table and thought she must be trying to get something out of the cabinet. Knowing she can't open anything, I didn't rush in there......I should have, because when I did walk in there (maybe 2 minutes later because I hadn't heard anything from her) I saw this:

So I went to get my camera.....because I'm that kind of mom. I was grossed out by the fact that she was eating plain butter, but not enough to stop her before I took a picture apparently. =)

After I took a picture however, I started to take the butter away & she yelled, "It's MY butter!" then stuck some in her mouth.......eeewww!

I said, "That is yucky Lily!" She said, "It's YUMMY!"

Ahh, two year-olds, you gotta love 'em!

Riley's First Day of Preschool!!

Riley started Pre-4 today. At All Saints you get the same teacher in Pre-3 & Pre-4, so he already knew what to expect and he has most of the same kids in his class, and he LOVES his teacher. So he was SUPER excited about starting school. He was so excited that he could not go to sleep last night and then this morning he wouldn't hold still for one minute. Even while I was taking pictures. This was him dancing because he was so excited. =)

Riley kept insisting we were going to be late, but we were actually early because I was tired of him telling me we were going to be late if we didn't leave.

His cousin Alyssa is in his class this year. Yeah!!

When I went to pick him up he was still excited! (I think he was more excited about the cupcakes they were eating for a Birthday party than school, but still....) I love how excited he gets about things. He is such a funny little guy. =) I hope this enthusiasm for everything continues as he gets older!!

Tree Climbing

Zach's favorite thing to do at my mom & dad's is climbing the many, many trees they have. If you don't know where Zach is, look in a tree.

So when my dad came in the house last week when we were over there & said that Lily wanted her picture taken in a tree, I thought I had misheard him. But, when I got out there, she climbed up this tree to have her picture taken.

Don't worry, she wasn't actually that far off of the ground.

And Granddad was standing next to her the whole time.

Then I made Riley go stand in the tree so I could take a picture of him.....

which he promptly climbed out of after I took the picture.....he's not much of a climber. =)

So now I have two climbers in the family......great.....=)

MUD

When it rains a lot, we tend to get a swamp in our backyard, and the boys have been asking (begging) to play in the mud back there whenever it rains. Well, it's been raining......so there has been plenty of water/mud back there. I finally gave in. The boys were ecstatic.

Lily on the other hand, was not. She stood there watching the boys running/jumping/sliding in the mud.......and did not look impressed. Then we had the following conversation:

Me: "Lily, go jump in the mud with your brothers."

Lily: (picture a look of "WHAT?!?!" on her face.) "It's muddy."

Me: "Uhhh, yeah."

Lily: Just looks at me and walks off.

This is Lily telling me it was muddy. =)

The boys, however, did not care that it was muddy.

Cheap fun in our house, that's what we're about. =)

First Day of First Grade!

Today is Zach's first day of 1st grade! He was up before I was!! He got ready quickly and seemed excited......until we got to his classroom. Then he suddenly looked like he was going to be sick. Poor guy!!! =( He was so nervous. I know he will settle in and relax, that it just takes him a little while, and that he will have a good day. But that didn't make it any easier to leave him.

I can't believe how fast they grow. Most of the time I get excited thinking about how the kids are growing and the people they are becoming.......but then there are days like today when I want them to stay small forever. This time really does go by too fast. I am thankful for the reminder though, even though it makes me sad, because then I know I have to make the most of this time with them. They won't be little for long.

Last Day of Summer Break

Today is Zach's last day of Summer Vacation. I can't believe he is going to go to First Grade tomorrow!!!! It doesn't seem like enough time has passed since he was born for him to be 6 1/2 already! Time definitely goes by way too fast.

We were very busy this summer! I think all three kids had a lot of fun. We did art projects, swam, cooked together, went to fun places, and played, played, played! Here are some pictures of our fun Summer.

The Boys' First Chief's Game!!!

Last night, we took the boys to their very first Kansas City Chief's game. Jeff is a big fan and we go to games every year, but we have never taken the boys before. They were really excited to go. After three hours in the car, they were really, really excited to get there. =)

The boys loved when the cheerleaders and players came out and then the fireworks went off.

We were sitting, watching the game when it started doing this:

Luckily, we were under the overhang!

Riley's favorite part was all of the music. He danced to it all night!

The boys actually lasted until the end of the third quarter, then they started to get tired (it was 9:30) and we still had a three hour drive home. So, we ran through the rain to our car and started home. The boys (and Jeff and I) had a lot of fun! I foresee many Logan Family trips to KC in the future. =)
