Blue & Gold Banquet

Sunday night was the Boy Scout Annual Blue & Gold Banquet. There is yummy food (which Jeff cooked all of this year; smoked brisket, ham, and hot dogs. Yum!), fun games, and awards.
The theme this year was, "Minute to Win it!" So the games were based on games on the Minute to Win it Show. Zach got to play this fun game where he had to use a tape measure to get balls into a cup:

He got all his balls in first!
After some more fun games, we had dinner and then they handed out awards.
The Tiger Cubs were up first. They all got elective beads for completing projects together and they also got their Tiger Cub Badges!

Zach also got his Bear badge!

Then his troop all got to switch over to the Weebelos neckerchief! They all worked hard this year to reach this goal!

Each troop had little skits that they did. Zach's troop did two funny skits. One was where they had a boy under a towel who was the "ugliest man on earth". They each took turns looking under and them falling over dead from fright. This was Zach dying:

At the end after all of the scouts were "dead", their leader looked under the towel and the scout under the towel died if fright because their leader was so ugly. They had a lot of fun with that one.

Their second skit was where one scout complimented each scout (except Zach) on an item of clothing they were wearing and then asked where they got it. Each scout said that got it from JC Penney. Then Zach walked out wearing just a towel (with shorts & a t-shirt on underneath) and the scout asking the questions said, "Who are you?" and Zach looks at the other scouts and says, "I'm JC Penny!"

They all thought they were pretty funny!

Jeff & Riley's Tiger Cubs did a cute song; "I've Got That Tiger Cub Feeling".

They did a good job too!

It was a fun night for all of the scouts!

Life-Sized Candy Land Game

On Tuesday, we went to the library to play the life-sized Candy Land game they had set up! The boys had a lot of fun!

Aunt Amy was there too. She was the librarian calling out the colors for the kids to go to on the "board". Each child was a piece on the board and they walked to the color that they drew.

Two news stations were there taking video of the game! Channel 3 & 10 were there.

They got to play twice. Poor Riley didn't get very far on the board either time. He kept saying, "The board doesn't like me, and I don't like the board." He's so funny. Zach cracked us all up too when he asked, "Hey! Isn't Candy Land copyrighted??" Aunt Amy explained to him why the library could use it. (something about not charging to play, so they could.)

During the second game Zach was just a few squares away from winning.

But then he had to go all the way back to the beginning because he drew the gingerbread man card which was close to the start. =( He was a really good sport about it though.
After the game, they went over to the craft tables. First, they made King Kandy crowns.

Then they made scepters using pretzels, frosting, and sprinkles.

They had a lot of fun playing candy land as the pieces and making fun and yummy crafts afterwards. They also got to be on the news! On channel 3 you could see them for a few seconds playing the game, and on channel 10 you could see them doing crafts in the background. They were pretty excited to be on TV! =)

Brothers

These two boys drive me CRAZY sometimes.
Sometimes they fight continuously.
Sometimes one just tries to make the other one mad.
Sometimes they run around like they have ingested 10 pounds of sugar.
Then I see this:

and I remember what sweet brothers they can be.
I remember that they stick up for one another.
I remember that they help one another.
I remember that they love one another.

Sometimes it is hard to remember, but these sweet moments help. =)

First Day of School

Today is the boys' first day of school.
Last night I read them The Kissing Hand.
This is the BEST night before school book ever!
I have read it to the boys every year before they went to school.
And I will read it to Lily next Monday night before she goes to preschool on Tuesday.

When I woke Riley up today, he popped out of bed.
He was super excited. =)
He was excited to get his new uniform on.
He was excited to put his new shoes on.
He was excited about his new lunch box.
He was excited about pretty much everything.

Zach didn't exactly pop out of bed....
He was excited about his first day in second grade though. =)

My two handsome boys.

We took Zach to his class first.
I was lucky I got a picture.
He practically ran to his class.
He was excited when he found out his friend Cody is going to be in his class again this year.
Then we took Riley to his class.
My little Riley is not shy.
He went right up to his teacher and asked her where his things went.
Then he gave her about three hugs.
I know we left him in competent hands.
He has a great teacher!!
I am sure both boys will have a great day!!
I can't wait until they come home and tell me all about it!
