Happy 70th Birthday Dad!

My Dad actually turned 70 on June 29th and we had his party on June 26th, but since I left for vacation the day after that, (and was gone on his actual Birthday) I am just now posting about it. (Sorry Dad.) =)

We had a party for him inviting extended family in addition to the nine of us, our spouses and children. So, we had it out at an outdoor park area. It was a lot of fun and I think that Dad had a good time talking to everyone.

My sister Mary made this cake for him. We had a good time poking fun at Dad's age with him reaching the bottom of the hill......

.....and getting close to reaching a cemetery.......trust me, if you know my dad, you know he thought it was funny. =)

We continued the good-natured ribbing with a hat with "old" sayings.....

....and a funny cane.

After a big BBQ, Dad blew out the candles on the cake, which was a good thing since all of the grandkids really wanted some. =)

I really can't believe my Dad is 70. He doesn't seem that "old" to me. He is out and about all of the time, coming and checking on our yards to make sure we don't have weeds in them, and getting them for us when we do (THANKS!!!), feeding his ducks, doing little things for us just to help us out, watching our kids, taking them on long walks, taking them fishing, and letting them do a lot of stuff that we would never have gotten away with when we were kids. I know that my kids are SO happy that you are their Granddad, and I know that I am very blessed to have you as my Dad. We love you!! I hope your Birthday was wonderful!

  1. I hadn't noticed that mom and dad both wore yellow. Is that significant?
