Ernie Logan

Today, Jeff's Grandpa, Ernie, went to be with Jesus. We were able to be there and hopefully comfort him, but mostly we comforted each other. Along with all of us who live in Wichita, Jeff's aunt and uncle and cousins came up from Texas and Oklahoma despite grass fires, rain and even snow. To me, this shows how much love this family I have been a part of for almost ten years has. I like to think that Ernie hung on to be able to have everyone say their goodbyes. Giving even to the end. Ernie is a very special person to me (and his entire family). Both sets of my grandparents passed away a long time ago, before I even met Jeff. So, Ernie and his wife Dot have been like my own grandparents, and I am grateful for their love and the way they took me (and all of the other "in-laws") as their own. Ernie was the most Christ-like person I know. Always thinking of others, always teaching us how we should live our life, be it how to be a good father, grandfather, husband, or person. He taught everyone around him how to be a follower of Christ. When he became even more ill in December, he did not ask "why me?" or complain. He only showed courage and faith that God would see him through. His strength is awe inspiring to me. Thank you all who prayed for him these past few months. I know God heard your prayers and helped Ernie be pain free in his final hours. He is now up in heaven watching over us, as he did here on Earth.
